GOLDEN GOALS
In this article you?ll discover how setting goals for yourself can help you manage your time much more effectively in the workplace.
You may be thinking, ?well if I have to spend time writing down goals every so often, how will that save me time?? the answer is to get SMART and implement these steps.
Your goals should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Rewarding & Timely.
-
Specific ? Your goals should be as specific and clear as you can possibly make them. You should always write down your goals to make sure you can remember and work towards them.
-
Measurable ? It?s vital that any goal you set is measurable. How else will you be able to tell when you?ve achieved it or not? The more specific your goal is, the easier it will be to measure.
-
Achievable ? Your goals should always motivate you. Unrealistic or unachievable goals will have a negative effect. It?s also important that your goals are challenging, giving yourself an easy goal to achieve will do nothing for you.
-
Rewarding ? Think of how good it?ll feel when you achieve a challenging goal you?ve set for yourself. By writing down reasons why you want to achieve it, you will find it so much more rewarding when you do.
-
Timely ? Setting aside a time limit for each of your goals will not only make it more rewarding when you achieve them but also help you avoid being distracted and stay focused on the task in hand.
By setting aside just a few minutes each day to write down your goals, you?ll soon discover that a lot of the day-to-day distractions that normally eat into your time will become fewer as you stay fully focused on what you want to achieve. The more you achieve your goals, the more rewarding your working day will become.
