TICK, TOCK, OFFICE CLOCK

Your time is very precious so it’s important not to waste it. There are a number of things that can have a negative impact on how your time is used in the workplace on a daily basis. In this article we’ll look at these in a bit more detail.

Emails
Constantly checking your inbox throughout the day can waste a huge amount of time that you could put to much better use. Prioritising your emails can also help your time management. Don’t get distracted by an email about a non-urgent task. Finish what you’re doing first.

Telephone Calls
Try to avoid taking personal calls where possible, what may seem like it’s going to be a five minute phone call could well last a lot longer. Prioritise your incoming calls the same way as your emails, don’t be afraid to tell people you’ll have to ring them back later.

Spending Time Online
Generally proven to be the most popular drain on time in the workplace, most employers would accept a few minutes of lunchtime use for personal banking or emails but not be so forgiving of continued personal use in terms of hours each day. Again, focus is the key, the time spent surfing could be used to help out another department or colleague, something that will reflect well on you when it comes to meeting company deadlines, or indeed your annual appraisal.

Untidy Workplace
If your work space is untidy and disorganised then it’s clearly going to impact on your time. How often have you rummaged around for that elusive stapler or calculator only to find it buried under a pile of paperwork? Knowing where everything is will not only save you time but also help to keep you relaxed and focused on the job in hand.

Lack of Resources
A lack of resources can be another big time waster. Staff are often left to ‘get on with things’ without having the proper tools to do their jobs. Here at Collins, we have a comprehensive range of solutions to this particular problem. From wall planners to desk diaries, conference folders to notebooks and a whole lot more.

Collins products can help to eliminate a lot of these time wasters we’ve just discussed. So why not have a look around our website www.collinsdebden.co.uk and choose the right product to help you manage your time in a much better way.
